On 5 and 6 May 2022, the beautiful city of Strasbourg will host -at Palais de la Musique et des Congrès- the the European Conference, The Social Economy the Future of Europe.The biggest (in-person) EU Social Economy event in 2022, and since the adoption, in December 2022, of the European Social Economy Action Plan #SEAP. One of the objectives of the two days event is to mobilise 1000 social economy stakeholders from all over Europe and beyond to exchange, build alliances, exchange and engage in the implementation of SEAP: the most important EU public policy for the social economy in a decade that has the potential to support the development of social economy models.
The event is organised by the city and euro-metropolis of Strasbourg, in cooperation with the French Presidency of the Council, the European Commission, the EESC and the Committee of the Regions in cooperation with EU and french social economy networks as Social Economy Europe (SEE), ESS-France, CRESS Grand Est, REVES, RTES, Le Labo, SSE International Forum, SOGA, FEBEA, FAIR and PLS.
Social Economy Europe and its network will participate in the event at the highest level. Our President Juan Antonio Pedreño will participate at the pleanry session on SEAP implementation on 5 May at 10:45 am CEST, alongside with Commissioner Nicolas Schmit (Jobs and Social Rights), and social economy leaders Deirdre Garvey (The Wheel), Angela Achitei (ADV Foundation), and Diana Ghinea (Coompanipon).
Our Vice-Presidents Jérôme Saddier (President of ESS-France) and Alain Coheur (EESC) will take the floor at the closing on 6 May . Of course, many other key policy makers as Valdis Domborvskis (European Commission Executive Vice-President), Christa Schweng (EESC President), Jeanne Barseghian (Mayor of Strasbourg), Pia Imbs (President Strasbourg’s Euro-metropolis), Maravillas Espín (Spanish Government), Mikel Irujo (Navarra), Barbra Trachte (Brussels), and key stakeholders as Corine Van de Burgt (President of ENSIE), Ana Umbelino (President of REVES), Virginia Antonini (AMICE), and Jeanne Bretécher; among many other will be taking the floor!

6 MAY: HAVE YOUR SAY ON TRANSITION PATHWAYS FOR SOCIAL ECONOMY & PROXIMITY
This European Commission workshop will take place on 6th of May from 11am to 12:30 pm CEST. It is co-organised by the European Commission (DG GROW), alogside with Diesis Network, Social Economy Europe, Euclid Network and Euricse. This workshop will mainly be an exchange among participants on the social economy and proximity ecosystem can drive the green and digital transition.
5 MAY: SOLIDARITY NOW! A SOCIAL ECONOMY RESPONSE TO THE CRISIS, SOLUTIONS FOR THE INTEGRATION OF REFUGEES. A VISION TO RE-BUILD UKRAINE
This workshop will take place on the 5th of May from 3.30pm to 5.30pm CEST. It is co-organised by Social Economy Europe, the Ukrainian Social Academy, the Lithuanian Social Business Association (LISVA), the West Pomeranian Network of Social Economy Support Centers (SZOWES), Wielkopolska Region Social Economy Centre (WOES), the American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN), in collaboration with the city and Euro-metropolis of Strasbourg.
This workshop aims at debating possible additional concrete actions to reply to the crisis and support the Ukrainian social economy community in its reply to the current crisis, and in its efforts to re-build the country, hopefully, in a close future.
6 MAY: PRODUCING SOCIAL ECONOMY STATISTICS AND RESEARCH TO BOOST THE VISIBILITY AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE SOCIAL ECONOMY
This workshop will take place on the 6th of May from 9.15am to 10.45am CEST. It is co-organised by ESS-France, CASES, CIRIEC, EMES Network, Euclid Network and RIUESS, in collaboration woth SEE. The questions that will be at the core of this workshop are the following:
How social economy statistics are produced?
Why are they important to better understand the socio-economic weight of the social economy?
Could we have a harmonised methodology in Europe to measure the socio-economic weight of the social economy?
5 MAY: SCALING UP THE SOCIAL ECONOMY AT GLOBAL LEVEL
This workshop will take place on the 5th of May from 6pm to 7.30pm CEST. It is co-organised by Social Economy Europe, SSE International Forum, GSEF and DIESIS Network. This workshop will envisage exchanges among a number of social economy actors, who will share views and best practices on how to scale up social economy at an international level.
5 MAY: BOOSTING SOCIAL ECONOMY ENTREPRENEURSHIP: SCALING UP SOCIAL ECONOMY SOLUTIONS
This workshop will take place on the 5th of May from 6pm to 7.30pm CEST. It is co-organised by Social Economy Europe, DIESIS Network, ConcertES, Caritas Europa, Assopreneur, Catalyst 2030, Lithuanian Social Business Association, ScaleChanger and Euclid Network.
This workshop aims at providing answers to the following questions:
How to boost social economy entrepreneurship among all Europeans, especially among the younger ones?
How to improve the visibility of social economy entrepreneurship?
How to Scale Up social economy solutions?
Furthermore, SEE will hold its General Assembly 2022on 4 May in Strasbourg, in the framework of this important EU Social Economy Summit.
