17.02 French Presidency Webinar & 04.03 Social Economy Intergroup

The European Social Economy Community is ready to support the implementation of the Social Economy Action Plan (SEAP), a ‘once in a decade’ public policy. 

Two upcoming high-level online events will particularly focus on SEAP implementation

On Thursday 17 February, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm CET,  the French Presidency of the Council, organises the webinar “The Social Economy, the Future of Europe“, in which European Commissioner Nicolas Schmit and FR State Secretary Olivia Grégoire, will exchange on the Social Economy Action Plan and reply to the questions of 11 social economy practitioners and leaders from 9 EU Member States

Interpretation will be provided in English and French. 

On Friday 4 March 2022, from 2 pm to 4 pm CET, the European Parliament’s Social Economy Intergroup will held its first online public hearing since SEAP publication on Towards a Council Recommendation on Social Economy: Boosting the convergence of social economy enabling frameworks.

Interpretation will be provided in English, French, Italian and Spanish.

This online public hearing will be led by Ms. Patrizia Toia MEP and aims to gather:

– Commissioner Nicolas Schmit (tbc)

– High-level representatives of MS with innovative Social Economy Laws as Yolanda Díaz (Vice-President of Spain and Minister for Labour and Social Economy), and Olivia Grégoire (FR State Secretary, tbc)

– MEPs in a key position as Jordi Cañas and Sergey Lagodisnky (tbc)

– Key social economy stakeholders and experts, including SEE President Juan Antonio Pedreño,  Susanne Westhausen (Cooperatives Europe), Jérôme Saddier (ESS-France-tbc), Luigi Bobba (Terzjus), Gregorz Buczkowski (AMICE), Antonella Noya (OECD-tbc), Hannah Surmatz (Philea), Mathieu de Poorter (CEDAG), and professor Antonio Fici.

Join us to have your say that should support the modernisation and convergence of social economy frameworks across the EU. 

Also on SEAP implementation, you still have some days to reply to the Commission’s consultation Scenarios towards co-creation of a transition pathway for a resilient, innovative, sustainable and digital proximity and social economy ecosystem (open until 28 February at 5pm CET).
