Social Economy and the European Union
Nowadays, social economy enterprises and organisations make their positions and proposals heard in all governments of the European Union.
At European level, Social Economy Europe represents and promotes social economy in Europe since 2000.
The European Parliament’s “Social Economy Intergroup” provides a great forum for a dialogue between all social economy players and members of the European Parliament.
The social economy is also represented in the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) through the “Social Economy Category” that brings together members from co-operatives, mutual societies, associations, foundations and NGOs with social aims.
European conferences on social economy highlight and bring home the work carried out by the women and the men actors in social economy enterprises and organisations, the economic driving forces behind the Union, committed to deepening solidarity and cohesion on local, national, European and international level.
