The economic crisis and climate change are only two reasons why many people in Europe question the current economic model. While it strives for maximising profits it falls short on other economic, social and environmental objectives. The social and solidarity economy turns this order of priorities around: enterprises aim most of all for the societal objective, while still being profitable. Furthermore, it bears a remarkable employment potential. However, legislation in Member States and at European level rarely takes their specificities into account.
For more than a year, we have been working on a comprehensive programme on how the protection of the social and solidarity economy through EU legislation and measures can be improved.
On 25th April we will present and discuss the 60 pages draft of our programme.
