The International Training Center of the ILO, based in Turin jointly with the European Economic and Social Committee the first edition of the:

“Interregional Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy”

from 25 to 29 of October 2010

The Academy brougth together the best of worldwide expertise on Social and Solidarity Economy and will draw lessons from Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe and the Arab states. It strongly engaged participants, especially thanks to its innovative learning strategy built around different learning tracks in many areas relevant to the concept of SSE:

- Getting a common understanding of the concept of SSE

- Exploring the link between Social and solidarity Economy and the for pillars of the ILO Decent Work Agenda (employment, social protection, social dialogue and International Labour standards)

- Policy and legal framework for the promotion and development of Social and Solidarity Economy

- Governance and Management of Social and Solidarity Economy organisations and enterprises

- Partnership building and networking of Social and Solidarity Economy institutions

The ILO Social and Solidarity Economy was meant for a variety of participants with different profiles: policy makers in various ministries (labour, women affairs, youth, social affairs…); workers’ and employers’ organizations; practitioners of SSE ( leaders, managers, local governments) and promoters of social and solidarity economy organizations ( development agencies, donors, UN agencies).
